What is an epoxy resin floor?
An epoxy resin floor is a heavy-duty floor covering consisting of several layers of epoxy resin. These floors are specially developed for industrial environments and offer a seamless surface that is extremely resistant to dynamic and static loads. Only existing structural expansion joints are incorporated into the coating system.
Advantages
High resistance to mechanical and chemical influences
Meets strict industry standards such as fire protection class B2 and ESD guidelines
Abrasion-resistant and resistant to oils, greases and solvents
Safety features such as slip resistance and an easy-to-clean, seamless surface
Chemical-resistant to industrial chemicals and meets hygiene requirements in food processing companies
Material properties
Compressive strength of 97N/mm2 and high flexural strength
Dissipative according to ESD guidelines DIN IEC 61340-4-1 and DIN EN 61340-5-1, acid-resistant according to WHG-§19 g and h Water Resources Act
Meets the requirements of fire protection class B2 in accordance with DIN 4102-1 and is non-slip in accordance with DIN specifications
Very high abrasion resistance (abrasion according to Taber 36 mg/cm2)
Resistant to heavy forklift trucks, oil, grease and many solvents
Non-slip and easy to clean, jointless (only building joints are covered)
Areas of application
Industrial halls and production facilities
Warehouse and logistics centers
Commercial kitchens and food processing companies
Garages and workshops
Installation
Preparation of the substrate
The floor is smoothed by grinding or shot blasting.
Adhesive primer
Apply a suitable epoxy resin bonding bridge to improve the adhesion of the epoxy resin.
Epoxy resin application
The epoxy resin is applied to the prepared substrate in several layers.
Possible decoration or additions
If desired, the fresh topsoil can be sprinkled with a defined quantity of colored chips.
Curing
The epoxy resin is cured according to the manufacturer’s instructions, which can take up to 24 hours depending on the product.
Sealing (optional)
After the top coat has hardened, a sealant can be applied if desired to provide additional protection and shine.
Completion
Once fully cured, the epoxy resin floor is ready for use and provides a robust, seamless surface.
