What is a stone carpet?

A stone carpet is a floor covering consisting of colored quartz pebbles in a defined grain size gradation of 1 – 4 mm. This pebble grain is mixed into a homogeneous mortar with the addition of a binding agent. The material is applied evenly to the subfloor using a special pin squeegee. After application, the floor is rubbed and smoothed by hand with a special trowel. With a 4 mm grain, double the grain thickness is used, resulting in an installation height of 8 mm.

Installation of stone carpets
Preparation of the substrate
The floor is smoothed by grinding or shot blasting.
Adhesive primer
Apply a suitable epoxy resin bonding bridge to improve the adhesion of the epoxy resin.
Compaction
If necessary, the evenness of the floor can be improved by applying a leveling filler.
Curing
Once the levelling filler has hardened, the actual stone carpet is laid.
Sealing (optional):
After curing, a sealant (glossy or matt) can be applied to provide additional protection and shine.
Completion
Once fully cured, the stone carpet is ready for use and offers a natural and robust surface.
